What went down on day seven in Rio
STAR OF THE DAY: Australia's silver medal winning team pursuit cyclists. After smashing their own world record to reach the final, Britain was expected to cruise to gold over a scratchy Australia. But the Australian quartet of Michael Hepburn, Jack Bobridge, Alex Edmondson and Sam Welsford almost pulled off a massive shock as they went out hard and led until around 500m to go in the 4km race.

TALKING POINT: Australia's near misses. It took a British world record to beat Australia in the men's team pursuit, while at the rowing, Australia's men's four crew couldn't quite stay with the Brits who won their fifth successive gold medal in the event. And then there's the Matildas - Australia's women's soccer team were knocked out of the Games in a dramatic 7-6 penalty shootout against Brazil.
WHAT'S UP NEXT: Australia has a chance to find some gold again with Kim Brennan in the single sculls final, swimmers Cate and Bronte Campbell in the 50m freestyle and Mack Horton in the 1500m freestyle and long jumper Fabrice Lapierre in the final.
