He'll now play Spanish young gun Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who recently enjoyed a spirited run to the quarter-finals at the French Open - if Millman wins that, a potential match-up with Novak Djokovic looms in the third round.

Stosur faced highly-rated Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan, who is also fresh off an appearance in the last eight at Roland-Garros, as well as a berth in the last 16 at Wimbledon.

Unfortunately for the veteran Australian, she went down 6-4, 6-2.

The team of Ash Barty and Storm Sanders needed less than an hour to get past Japan's Nao Hibino and Makoto Ninomiya, winning 6-1, 6-2.
