Stingers draw with Hungary in Rio warm up

Just two weeks out from the Olympics Australia's women's water polo team has played a hard-fought 7-7 draw with top European side Hungary.

The Stingers are determined to win gold in Rio after bronze medals at the last two Olympics, but couldn't get over the Hungarians, who were playing in front of their home crowd.

"To be honest we're a bit disappointed with the draw. You could see the reaction from the two teams after the game, where they were quite happy and we were disappointed," Holly Lincoln-Smith said after the game.

Australia held a 5-4 lead at halftime, but Hungary fought back in front of a packed crowd to tie up the scores 6-6 after the third quarter.

Hungary were the first European team to qualify for Rio and are a traditional power in water polo.

The Stingers will head to Montenegro before arriving in Rio on August 1.
