Rowing's governing body FISA has cancelled all racing for the day due to the poor weather conditions, with three Australian crews affected.

Rio woke on Wednesday to rain, wind and mist.

The affected events included the men's fours semi-finals, the men's and women's quad sculls finals and the repechage for the women's eights.

The Aussie men's quad sculls crew was set to battle it out for a medal in the final, but will have to wait indefinitely for their shot at gold.

The men's fours crew was due to compete in the semi-finals, while the women's eights team - which was only called up to Rio a fortnight before the Games - was set to compete in the repechage.

This is the second time heavy winds have disrupted the rowing schedule at the Lagoa Stadium.
