Aussie athletes fined and handed good behaviour bonds over alleged accreditation tampering
A number of Australian athletes have been fined and handed good behaviour bonds after allegedly tampering with their accreditation in an attempt to get better seats at the Boomers’ semi-final against Serbia in Rio.
9NEWS understands that the athletes had their accreditations seized by security in the basketball arena.
Bronze medal-winning archer Alec Potts, rower Lucy Stephan, rugby sevens captain Ed Jenkins and cyclist Matthew Glaetzer are reported to have been among the group.

They were detained for seven hours as Australian team lawyer Fiona de Jong negotiated their release and Olympic officials delivered pizza and water.
The group eventually fronted a magistrate around 3am local time and were fined and placed on good behaviour bonds.
Australian Olympic media boss Mike Tancred earlier confirmed that Australian athletes were being questioned by police.
“Some people tried to tamper with their accreditation,” Tancred told Fox Sports.
“They’ve got stopped by people over at the stadium.
“It’s really a matter for the IOC as they’re in charge of accreditations. If you tamper with accreditations it is their problem."
