Polish weightlifting Olympic medal contender Tomasz Zielinski has been kicked out of the Rio Games for a positive doping test, his nation's Olympic Committee says.

The Polish Olympic Committee said an examination of the European champion's b-sample confirmed the original finding, with Zielinski testing positive for the steroid nandrolone at an out-of-competition test on July 31.

It is the first positive test within the Olympic testing period which started with the opening of the athletes village on July 24.
