Surprising detail as predicted medal tally tips best Australian Olympics performance since Sydney 2000

An Aussie gold rush has been predicted for Paris 2024, with athletes forecast to achieve their best medal haul since Sydney 2000.
The Gracenote Virtual Medal Tally has forecast Aussies to win 54 medals - 15 gold, 23 silver and 16 bronze in Paris.
Should the prediction be accurate, it would be the sixth time Australia has surpassed 40 medals in the past eight Games, and the best performance since Sydney 2000.

Gracenet made the predictions by taking results and statistics from international and domestic competitions since Tokyo.
The medal tally forecasts the gold, silver and bronze hauls for the participating nations, as well as the results of individual athletes and teams.
Ten of Australia's 15 golds are predicted to be won in the pool.
Gracenet predicted Ariarne Titmus would win gold in the 200m and 400m freestyle, and silver in the 800m.
Kaylee McKeown was tipped for gold in the 100m and 200m backstroke, and for a silver in the 200m individual medley.
Of note, eight of the golds in the pool were tipped to come from the women, the men's contributions tipped to come from Zac Stubblety-Cook (200m breaststroke) and Cameron McEvoy (50m freestyle).

Mollie O'Callaghan (100m freestyle) was the only other individual tipped for gold in the pool.
Along with Titmus and McKeown, Jessica Fox was the only other Aussie tipped to win multiple golds.
She's predicted to defend her C1 gold from Tokyo and a second in K1, an improvement on her Tokyo bronze. However, it forecast she would win silver in the slalom cross.
Elsewhere, Logan Martin was tipped to win gold in the park discipline of BMX freestyle, Grace Brown in the women's individual road cycling time trial, and Matthew Wearn in the ILCA 7 division in sailing.

Overall, Gracenet's forecast had Australia finishing fifth on the table.
The US is forecast to top the overall tally with 111 (39 gold), although China are a chance to win more gold (34).
Great Britain (17 gold) and France (27 gold) were tipped to finish third and fourth, ahead of Australia, with Japan (13 gold), Italy and Germany (both with 11 gold) close behind.
