After winning bronze in 2018 and silver in 2022, Australian snowboarder Scotty James is eyeing off the top prize in Italy.

James, one of the country's greatest ever snowboarders, is among the top contenders for a gold medal at The Winter Olympics in 2026 and has the resume to match the world's best.

He currently sits second on the World Snowboard Points List, behind Japan's Ruka Hirano.

James has won four world championships and seven X-Games gold medals, and has achieved just about everything the sport has to offer.

Now the 31-year-old has his eyes set on the final piece of the puzzle in Italy.

"It would complete the set (an Olympic gold medal), for sure. I mean, that's the reality," James told SEN on Tuesday.

"But, I think this year, and what's probably been the most important narrative is that I always want to go into every event and do my best to win.

"I'll do that with all of my events in the lead-up to the Olympics and put my best foot forward.

"The sport can be tough some days, but I just have to focus on myself and what I'm doing.

"You can definitely get bogged down sometimes thinking about the end result.

"But I'm probably mature enough now to know that I've just got to focus on what can get the job done, and that's all I can control.

"We'll see how we go and give it a good old crack, as we would say in Australia, and hope for the best outcome."

James has a documentary about his life out on Netflix, called 'Scotty James: Pipe Dream', documenting his journey to this point of his career.

He is married to wife Chloe Stroll, the sister of Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll.

In the documentary, James spoke of a mindset shift he has made, embracing falling short in the last two Winter Olympics.

"My biggest fault was that I pushed it away. I tried to pretend it didn't mean anything to me to take the pressure off—'it doesn't matter, it's just another competition'—but it does matter," he says in the documentary.

"I've worked hard. I've dedicated myself to my craft, so why would I approach the Olympics with any other mindset than I would the X Games or the World Championships? The last few times, that's what I've done, and I've come up short."
