Handball court replaced at Olympics

The Olympics organisers have replaced the entire floor of the handball court after teams complained about the quality of the coating.

The court was replaced overnight on Monday in time for games on Tuesday with the work approved by the International Olympic Committee.

"It's brand new, perfect and reinforced," Rio communications director Mario Andrada said.

Games organisers have struggled to complete venues in time for the competitions, having run out of cash in recent years due to the country's worst recession in decades.

Many venues still have some minor work that remains to be completed.
