Aussie athletes scramble to make opening ceremony after bus delays

Delayed buses left Australian Olympic flag bearer Anna Meares scrambling to the start line of the Opening Ceremony on Friday night.

But it was a date the proud captain intended to keep.

While the majority  of Australia’s 421 athletes opted not to attend the ceremony ahead of the start of competition, those who did took with them memories they will share forever.

“Walking through the tunnel into that stadium was just incredible, the lights, the colour, the people, those stands just went on forever,” Meares said.
