Official veers into the path of runners in the US

A race official in the US has been taken to hospital after an unfortunate collision with competitors.
During the 1500m at Stanford University’s Stanford Invitational, the official, with his back turned, was unaware of how close he was to the runners making their way down the straight.
As he veers across the lane, the officiator catches a glimpse of the runners out of the corner of his eye but instead of moving in the opposite direction, he moved into the path of the race goers causing a massive collision.

The unlucky official took three runners out including three-time Olympian Michael Rimmer who was leading at the time of the race.
