Oblivious news host makes shocking, yet hilarious blunder

There are mistakes and then there are career-ending shockers.

A US news host committed a cardinal sin when he failed to pay attention to his co-host and made an unbelievable, yet hilarious, blunder.

Reporting for WPEC-TV CBS 12 News out of Florida, the co-host was reporting on a breaking story that Florida State University quarterback Everett Golson's college career was over after being left out of the squad for the Peach Bowl.

According to the presenter, Golson would not play because of "a family issue", with rumours swirling there had been a death in the player's family.

But when the reporter crossed back to the anchor, it became abundantly clear the host had failed to listen to a single word of the sad story.

"Ahh certainly is, you gotta love that though huh?" the anchor asked the stunned co-host.

There are no reports yet of the channel issuing an apology for the shocking gaffe.
