Obama's NFL joke falls flat during Patriots' visit

If his joke at the expense of the visiting Super Bowl Champions is anything to go by, President Barack Obama doesn’t have a future in comedy.

The New England Patriots, minus notable absentee Tom Brady, were making the traditional visit to the White House as NFL champions when the President thought he’d try out a little bit of stand up.

“I usually tell a bunch of jokes at these events, but with the Patriots in town I was worried that 11 out of 12 of them would fall flat,” Obama quipped to a muted response.

Footage from the visit shows the Patriots begin to laugh as the President turns back towards them after making the ‘deflategate’ joke.

New England was accused of deflating footballs during January’s AFC championship game that they won to reach the Super Bowl, accusations that were later found to be unsubstantiated with low temperatures believed to have caused the flat footballs.

One thing’s for sure, New England coach Bill Belichick certainly didn’t approve of the joke, giving the President the thumbs down.
