The Mole's round 20 team of the week: 'Explosive' star gives battling powerhouse a preview of 2024 boost
1. Kalyn Ponga (Knights)
In a sparkling attacking display against the Tigers, Ponga laid on his team's first three tries, then scored a dazzling solo four-pointer himself.
2. Dominic Young (Knights)
Explosive winger Young scored two tries and set up another in another classy display on the right flank for the Knights.
Has been in electric form this season and tops the NRL tryscorers list for 2023 with 18. The Englishman will be a huge loss next season when he leaves Newcastle to join the Roosters on a blockbuster four-year deal.
3. Valentine Holmes (Cowboys)
Ran for nearly 200m, produced a wonderful try assist for Reuben Cotter and also made a line break in the Cowboys win over the Sea Eagles.
4. Izack Tago (Panthers)
Scored two tries and crafted two try assists as the Panthers edged out the never-say-die Dolphins.
5. Xavier Coates (Storm)
Scored his second hat trick of the season against the Roosters, including a 90m intercept special.
6. Tom Dearden (Cowboys)
Continued his outstanding form this season with a classy attacking display against the Sea Eagles at Brookvale.
7. Adam Reynolds (Broncos)
Led his team superbly in what could have been a tricky game against the Bulldogs, scoring and creating tries.
8. Daniel Saifiti (Knights)
Dominated the forward battle as the Knights out-enthused the Tigers on Friday night.
10. Wayde Egan (Warriors)
Continued his good form at dummy-half in Auckland, carving up the Sharks' middle defence with his passing and running game.
10. Reagan Campbell-Gillard (Eels)
Ran for more metres than any forward in the win over the Titans despite spending 10 minutes in the sin bin for a cheap shot, for which he's been offered a four week suspension.
