Wests Tigers enforcer Martin Taupau has warned NRL rivals he's ready to bite back if push comes to shove in the heat of battle.

The New Zealand international could be in trouble with the NRL judiciary after he was put on report and sin binned for a swinging arm on James Maloney in the Roosters 33-8 victory.

The hit sparked an all-in melee which left the officials battling to regain control of the match.

And amongst the heated words and shirt pulling, Taupau was captured threatening to bite the arm of a rival player.

However, the teeth-led feint was just an intimidation tactic with the 25-year-old smiling at his victim as he's pulled away from the confrontation.

The incident wasn't missed by the Channel Nine commentary team and lit up social media following the match.

I was waiting for Marty Taupau's predictable attempt to make them flinch, his arms were tied so he resorted to a bite... #NRLTigersRoosters
