NRL footy tips Round 9: Freddy, Joey and Channel Nine's stars give their winners

Andrew Johns and Brad Fittler are wary of tipping the Roosters for what many believe to be a lopsided clash with the Cowboys tonight, with both NSW legends expecting a bit of a hangover from last week's thrilling golden-point loss to the Storm.

The Roosters were stunned last Thursday night by Melbourne's last ditch heroics in the form of a Ryan Papanhuyzen field-goal and a match-winning Cameron Smith penalty goal to drop two points in what has been described as the best game of 2020.

On paper the Cowboys don't pose the same threat to the two-time defending premiers, but Johns and Fittler see some warning signs.

"I'm going to go the Roosters, just," Johns told Wide World of Sports' Freddy & Joey's Tips.

"Worried about the Roosters, and the Storm, coming off that physical, high-emotion game last Thursday night up in Brisbane.

"Travelling away for the Roosters. I think the Roosters win, but it'll be tight."

Fittler agreed, saying an unsung hero like Mitch Aubusson could be the difference between a narrow victory and a humbling defeat.

"I'm a bit the same. I think this is a time that Mitch Aubo comes into his own. Boyd Cordner out, Mitch Aubo is just a quality player," Fittler said.

"Tupes (Daniel Tupou) is out, Ryan Hall comes into the side, Lachy Lam comes onto the bench. I'm going to go Roosters as well, I just think a stack of errors last week, I think they'll tidy up that part of their game and maybe too much pressure for the Cowboys."
