Blues skipper Boyd Cordner declares himself fit for Origin III

Inspirational New South Wales captain Boyd Cordner has declared himself fit to line up for Origin III after a nagging calf injury threatened to rule him out.

The Roosters veteran was seen taking a laid-back approach to the Blues' non-contact training session on Tuesday, but said that he was confident that he'd be right to lead out the Blues as they attempt for a rare Origin sweep.

"I've got the luxury of a long week and we don't have our main sessions until Thursday and Friday and then obviously Sunday," Cordner told NRL.com.

Cordner was the elder statesman on this edition of the Blues, as new coach Brad Fittler rolled out 11 debutants for the Origin opener back in Melbourne, but was excellent in the series clincher at ANZ Stadium.

Despite his excellent Game 2 performance, Cordner was unable to celebrate at full-time due to a late concussion suffered in a collision with Roosters teammate Dylan Napa.

While the concussion caused him to miss the Roosters' next game, it was the calf injury that lingered and had previously cast doubt over Cordner's Game 3 appearance.

If the Blues are successful in Game 3, it will be the first Origin sweep since Queensland swept the Blues back in 2010, and just the first Blues' sweep since 2000.
