'I haven't had a goal kick yet': Cleary's worrying reveal with crucial Blues job under the microscope

Nathan Cleary admits he hasn't take a single goal kick since injuring his groin during the State of Origin captain's run a fortnight ago.

The New South Wales superstar was hampered by the injury in game two as the Blues lost in Perth.

They scored more tries than Queensland but lost by two points as goal kicker Zac Lomax left six points on the table through errant kicking off the tee.

Cleary sat out Penrith's trip to Auckland, and then suited up for the Panthers as they beat the Bulldogs on Thursday night.

But he again handed the goal kicking duties off, and says he's unsure if he will be able to take the tee for NSW next Wednesday.

"It's a call we are probably going to make pretty early in the week," Cleary said on Tuesday.

"Since it happened I haven't had a goal kick yet. You don't want to try it and then get another setback.

"We will see."

NSW scored five tries in Origin II in Perth but Lomax was only able to convert two of them.

Queensland's Val Holmes slotted all five of his attempts and it ended up being the difference on the scoreboard.

Lomax was so devastated following the loss that he refused to speak to media.

In Blues camp on Monday he declared he is prepared to kick again in game three in the hope of making amends.

"I pride myself on being the best kicker I can be," he told 9News.

"Sometimes you live or die by the sword when you goal kick, and you wear that heavy.

"I was disappointed. I'm a goal kicker and I love goal kicking, so nothing will change."

The Origin decider will be played at Sydney's Accor Stadium.
