St Helens lose Luke Douglas to injury

Famously fit St Helens prop Luke Douglas is facing a rare injury lay-off after suffering a compound fracture of his finger in his sides' 24-16 defeat at Leigh.

The 30-year-old former Cronulla and Gold Coast forward, who was injured playing only his second match for his new club, will be out for an unspecified length of time after being told he needs to undergo surgery.

Douglas, who played in all three of Scotland's matches in the 2016 Four Nations Series, holds the record for most consecutive appearances in the NRL, having not missed a game through injury or suspension from 2006-14.

His run came to an end in August 2014 when he was one of several past and present Cronulla players to accept a year-long ban, backdated to November 2013, as part of an investigation into the club's controversial supplements programme.
