Sluggish Titans caught out again

Gold Coast co-captain Will Zillman knows his NRL team's sluggish starts are simply unacceptable.

Against St George Illawarra at Robina on Saturday, Dragons skipper Gareth Widdop opened the scoring in the eighth minute. It was the sixth straight match the Titans had conceded the first points.

While the Titans tried valiantly to overhaul an 18-6 halftime deficit, they could only find one second-half try to Tyrone Roberts as they slumped to a third straight defeat.

Zillman says while the Titans are showing resilience and keeping themselves in contests, constantly playing from behind is just too tough an ask.

"We came out in the second half and put it all in. I thought our defence was outstanding, we scrambled really well and they didn't score any tries," he said.

"But the damage was already done ... teams aren't blowing us away but at the same time we're not getting two points at the end of the day.

"There's lots of positives to come out of that game ... but we need to go back and have a look at our start."
