Ryan Matterson's contract saga has come to an end with the gun second-rower set to join the Parramatta Eels on a three-year deal.

Matterson has agreed to a deal reportedly worth $1.5 million that will keep him at the club until the end of 2022.

Matterson's new deal will see him returning to his junior club and putting an end to the messy saga that led him to being released by the Tigers after just one season.

Eels coach Brad Arthur welcomed the signing and said Matterson would be a huge addition to the club.

"It's always great to see the return of a local Parramatta Eels junior," Arthur said.

"He'll have a whole pre-season with the team and I know he'll be an asset to our club next year."

After leaving the Roosters at the end of last year, Matterson enjoyed a breakout season with the Tigers which saw him recruited to the Blues camp as 18th man.

The news comes after a spree of signings by the Eels earlier in the week.

Brad Takairangi, David Gower, Marata Niukore, Ray Stone and Andrew Davey have all recently inked new deals with the club.
