Scans confirm the worst as Moses’ Kangaroos dream ended
A calf injury suffered against New Zealand has ruled Mitchell Moses out of the remainder of the Rugby League World Cup.
The Eels gun came from the field only minutes into the second half of the tournament opener, and did not return.

The Kangaroos on Saturday afternoon confirmed he had suffered a high-grade tear and his tournament was over.
“Moses was sent for an MRI scan in Sydney (on Friday) and has since been diagnosed with a high-grade muscle tear, meaning he will take no further part in the tournament,” a statement read.
Raiders five-eighth Ethan Strange has been added to the squad, and will join the Kangaroos camp in Brisbane in the coming days.
Tom Dearden replaced Moses in the halves against the Kiwis. Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters has already confirmed Dearden would play alongside Sam Walker against Fiji next weekend.
Unsurprisingly, Walters said Moses was disappointed with the injury setback.
“Mitch made a wonderful contribution to our World Cup preparations during the camp in Sydney and very bravely tried to play through the injury until he eventually had to come from the field on Thursday night," he said.
“He is naturally disappointed at the outcome, and the fact that he tried to stay out there when he was clearly injured shows just what it means to him to represent his country and play in the Kangaroos jersey.
"We wish Mitch all the best with his recovery.”
Australia will play Fiji in Perth next Sunday evening.
