Roosters back in form in NRL: Bellamy

Melbourne NRL coach Craig Bellamy believes the struggling Sydney Roosters have turned the corner to get some of their strut back.

After being a NRL heavyweight for the past three seasons, winning the minor premiership as well as the 2013 title, the Roosters are languishing one spot from the wooden spot with three wins.

But ahead of their Saturday night clash at Allianz Stadium, Bellamy said the Roosters looked to have finally found some form.

He was impressed by their 32-18 win over the Wests Tigers.

"Usually, at this time of the year, they are the benchmark so their position on the table is very different," Bellamy said.

"Their form has been patchy but last week was the best I've seen them play this year and you could see in the body language of the coach, captain and the players after the game that they thought so, too."

Bellamy said the star-studded Roosters were used to winning and now that they had had a taste of it again, he expected they would be hungry for more.

"They've got a lot of great players who are used to winning footy games so we're expecting to see that for the rest of the year," he said.

The Storm's two State of Origin stars, skipper Cameron Smith and halfback Cooper Cronk, haven't trained this week but will return for their final session on Friday before flying to Sydney.

Bellamy said Cronk had been undergoing more treatment on the ankle he hurt in the lead-up to Queensland's game-one Origin win last week but the injury had pulled up well.
