QUEENSLAND State of Origin forward Josh Papalii has signed a rich new three-year deal with the Raiders.

Papalii was in hot demand from rival clubs and the Raiders were desperate to keep him after losing front rowers Shannon Boyd (Gold Coast Titans) and Junior Paulo (Parramatta Eels) for next season in recent weeks.

Souths were one club keen on Papalii as a possible replacement for Roosters-bound forward Angus Crichton.

The 26-year-old Papalii has started 2018 in good form and as Queensand’s most experience forward, will be a key man in the upcoming State of Origin series.

The Raiders have money to spend for next season and are in the hunt for English duo Ryan Sutton and John Bateman.

Veteran forward Sia Soliola is also close to extending his stay at the club.
