Roosters 'taught a lesson' in prelim loss

Luke Keary is full of praise for his rivals after his final game in Roosters colours.

"They have been the best team all year and they taught us a big lesson," he said.

"They held on. Nelson went to the bin and we were on top there for a bit ... but they are a bloody good football team. They deserve to be there."

'Raw' reaction from Grant

Harry Grant is full of emotion after leading his side into a grand final as captain.

The superstar Melbourne hooker was electric again in his 100th first grade game.

"That's what you set out to do, to be in this game next week,"

"We will enjoy this feeling and then go back to work. That is so important for us.

"It was very raw I guess. They're not easy to get to and not easy to win. We need to enjoy this feeling ... we were on the back foot early, but that's our team."

Melbourne have cemented their spot in the grand final!

A dominant win from the hosts in front of a bumper crowd at AAMI Park.

Munster scores on the final play of the game to complete a double, joining superstar teammates Hughes (three tries) and Papenhuyzen (two).

"They have set the bar again tonight," Paul Vautin said on Nine.

Crichton's offload hits the deck coming out of trouble and Melbourne scoop it up.

Munster dances around some flimsy defence and cements the victory for his side.

"That puts a little bit of icing on the cake," Paul Vautin said on Nine.

Roosters aren't going away just yet as Tedesco makes a break, but his pass inside is knocked down by a Storm player and gives them another set.

Keary's cross-field bomb is knocked on by Melbourne to give them six more tackles in the redzone as the clock continues to tick.

Unfortunately, some scrappy passages of play doesn't lead to points and it looks like the Storm are going to see out this final 10 minutes.

Roosters brain-fade proves costly

Warbrick makes a mistake in the ruck coming out of trouble, but the Storm manage to hold on as Tedesco is caught in a desperate tackle.

Roosters run the ball on last tackle on the 50-metre line and it doesn't pay off.

"I don't think that was the right play to run on the last," Cam Smith said on Nine.

The field position gifts Papenhuyzen his second try of the night and this one might be all over now with 15 minutes left on the clock.

Hughes completes hat-trick

Another massive set from the Roosters almost ends with more points, before Manu spills it just before the tryline.

Melbourne go up the other end as Hughes scores again to extend their lead.

Replays show in the play prior to the try, MacDonald knocked the ball on into his teammate Katoa, but the officials let it go and there was nothing the Bunker could do.

That's a costly one for the Chooks with 25 minutes to go.

Keary puts up a towering kick and Papenhuyzen spills it in the air, allowing Butcher to clean up the scraps and score next to the sticks.

The visitors have surged back into this game and there's only a converted try in it.

Chooks cross for timely try

Howarth gives away a six-again to allow the Roosters some positive field position.

Moments later, Tedesco pops an offload to May and the front-rower brushes off some defenders to score under the posts.

"They've got a sniff," Paul Vautin said on Nine.
