Eels avoid four-point NRL penalty

Parramatta have avoided a premiership points deduction over their salary cap dramas, the NRL announced on Wednesday.
The Eels were facing starting the new NRL season on minus-four premiership points as punishment over their cap indiscretions last year.

However NRL head of integrity Nick Weeks said Parramatta had completed the core governance changes recommended by an independent review and would not be subject to that sanction.
