NRL seeking $20-million compensation from State Government over delayed ANZ Stadium renovations
The NRL is asking for $20-million in compensation in the form of land from the State Government over the displacement of two grand finals due to delayed renovations of ANZ Stadium, Nine News understands.
The NRL is demanding compensation for the loss of revenue stemming from holding 2021 and 2022 NRL Grand Finals at the SCG due to the protracted re-development of ANZ Stadium in Sydney.
It is understood the NRL is asking for $20-million compensation, but is seeking that in the form of a 99 year lease at Olympic Park - a move that could be used to relocate its headquarters from Moore Park.
The NRL could take the games interstate if it is not adequately compensated for its losses.

The Coalition has spent $1.8-billion upgrading three sporting venues in the lead up to NSW state election earlier this year, and risked significant political capital for the policy.
Nine News State Political reporter Liz Daniels reported some inside the government are likening the move to 'extortion'.
"The League could take the games interstate - if it's not compensated for the loss of revenue from holding the extra deciders at the SCG," she told Nine News.
"Some inside the Government have likened the NRL's moves to extortion after the Coalition already spent $1.8-billion upgrading three venues."
