NRL's Glenn turns back clock for Broncos

At 31, Brisbane veteran Alex Glenn feels like the NRL's Benjamin Button after turning back the clock to move seamlessly from the back row to the centres.

However, the former Kiwi international forward admits time is running out for the Broncos to secure their NRL finals berth ahead of Friday night's Suncorp Stadium clash with Parramatta.

Lining up against giant Eels centre Waqa Blake is no laughing matter for 256-game veteran Glenn.

But he can find the funny side of his unlikely transition into the centres after starting two of his last three games for Brisbane in the backline.

"My shoulders are enjoying it. I am doing a lot less tackling. I think I only had three tackles last week," said Glenn, who returned from two weeks out with a knee injury last round against South Sydney.

"I am getting out of bed thinking I am younger.

"When I first came here it was in the outside backs and when you get older you tend to move towards the front (forwards).

"I am going the other way around. I am a bit of Benjamin Button at the moment."

Off-contract Glenn - in his 11th season at Brisbane - is still sweating on a new deal but is confident of being at Red Hill next year.

However, his priority is ensuring the Broncos play finals football in 2019.

Eighth-placed Brisbane need to win their final two regular season games to ensure a finals berth, starting with the Eels on Friday night.

The last time Brisbane missed out on finals football was back in 2013 - not that Glenn had to be reminded.

"We always want to be in that finals series. It's heartbreaking (missing finals)," he said.

"It happened to us once before when we missed out on the top eight - that is something I will never forget.

"We don't want to replicate that, that's for sure.

"It (the Eels clash) is do or die, but it is exciting to be honest."
