THE WASH-UP:

Defending premiers the Sydney Roosters and Canberra book preliminary finals and get a week off. The season is over for Cronulla and Brisbane, knocked out by Manly and Parramatta respectively. Melbourne and South Sydney lose but cash in on double chances to advance to the semi-finals.

KEY MOMENT:

There were bizarre scenes in Melbourne when Canberra centre Joey Leilua failed to start the game after getting a piece of pyrotechnic shell in his eye as he ran on the field. But he recovered to lay on a dramatic game-winning try in the 76th minute.

KEY QUOTE:

"Then you're going, 'Hang on, I thought we could have had 50-nil there today. Why didn't we have 50-nil? Come on'." - Roosters coach Trent Robinson not happy with his team's 24-point hammering of South Sydney.

KEY STAT:

Parramatta's 58-0 humiliation of Brisbane in their elimination final broke the record for the biggest-winning margin in a finals game.
