Queensland’s favourite son Wally Lewis has moved the top of the table after an extremely tough week on the tipping front. With the top four sides heading into last weekend all losing, tipsters everywhere would have felt the pain.
Lewis – a member of Nine’s NRL commentary team – withstood the barrage of upsets better than his tipping rivals to assume top spot on the leaderboard.
Andrew Johns is back South Sydney to beat the Bulldogs.
There is no Thursday night match this week due to the Easter long-weekend, but Nine will bring viewers a pair of matches live and free on Good Friday.
The first of those is the now-annual showdown between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Canterbury Bulldogs at 4pm.
This match has had no shortage of drama in recent years and tomorrow promises to be no different.
Andrew Johns, who scored a rather sad 2-of-8 in round six, said the Rabbitohs should be able to get the job done.
''I’m leaning towards the Bunnies in this one, just because of the form of Sam Burgess, and Cody Walker in the halves. I like what they’re both doing,’’ Johns said.
''I reckon they will win again in a real tight one. Maybe even by a field goal again by Adam Reynolds.’’
Fittler, who is one tip ahead of Johns in their season-long personal battle, took great delight in reminding Johns of his Round 6 woe.
‘’Hahahaha, the Immortal. Two,’’ he said.
In more serious matters, Fittler said he consulted a member of his family before taking the Dogs.
''I’ve gone straight to my daughter, she said the Dogs. I’ve got no idea with this game,’’ he said. ''No Klemmer, no Eastwood. Wow. [But] I think they’ve got enough bark at the moment.’’
Nine will also broadcast the Easter Sunday clash between the Panthers and Sharks live and free from 4pm.
Fittler and Johns both think the Panthers will bounce back from last week’s loss to the Rabbitohs.
Penrith will also welcome a raft of players back from both injury and club-imposed suspension.
