NRL expert tips and predictions: Round 17
We’re back with all the expert tips for Round 17 of the NRL, and for the first time in a while we’ve got the full eight games to choose from.
Round 16 proved tough for our tipsters, with a few upsets catching the boys out. Sterlo and Freddy were good enough to tip the Sea Eagles to beat the Sharks, while Locky’s loyalty to his former club Brisbane paid off when they beat the Raiders.
Freddy has been sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes, after calling out Gold Coast as “Burleigh Heads with a few good players thrown in”. We’re sure it was an uncomfortable 80 minutes for him watching the Titans down the Wests Tigers 26-14.
Locky took the honours last week with five, but he’s still in the wooden spoon position. Freddy maintains the overall lead but the battle for second is very tight with the remaining five tipsters covered by just two points.
Round 17 is off to a controversial start, with Joey not showing up to record his segment, which left Freddy flabbergasted.
“Where is he?”
“Please, he kills me.”
Upon learning he was to fill in and record Joey’s piece as well as his own, Freddy immediately got into character as the eighth immortal.
“My necks sore, I’m gone, oh my back.”

The round gets underway with the Eels playing the Bulldogs, live and free on Channel Nine from 7:30pm tonight.
“I’ll go the Eels,” said Freddy.
“No James Graham, that might make a difference.”

“Benji is unorthodox, if his passes land then I think the Broncos,” said Freddy, although Joey is tipping the Broncos.
Joey is tipping Newcastle as his specials this week, when they play Wests Tigers on Sunday, and although Freddy agrees the Knights will get up, he was shocked to hear they’d been labelled the best bet of the weekend.

“I think the Panthers … you wonder what’s going to happen with Souths.”
