Shannon Mato's bruising hit in the shadows of full-time said it all.

The Maoris had already racked up 24 points to the Indigenous side's zero in the women's NRL All Stars clash, but that didn't stop Mato from laying a monstrous hit on Indigenous centre Monique Donovan in the final two minutes.

Expert Nine commentator and former Jillaroo Ruan Sims was enormously impressed.

"Gee this has been a physical contest," Sims said.

"First game of the year and they are not shy about getting into it.

"Shannon Mato - we saw her doing this a lot last year in the NRLW.

"Coming up with another great shot."

Five-eighth Raecene McGregor was among the Maoris' best in the 24-0 thumping, snaring two tries and troubling the Indigenous defence with outstanding runs and passing.

The Maoris scored their comprehensive win despite not having their New Zealand-based players due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

The Maori men are now hoping to continue the tremendous work of the women.
