‘Can’t believe it’: Bizarre scenes after Walsh conversion drama
Reece Walsh had a strange night in his side’s 30-6 loss to Newcastle — but there was no stranger moment than his lone conversion attempt.
Mid-way through the second half, Walsh finished off a spectacular Broncos try under the posts to give his side a glimmer of hope.

He then stepped up to the tee, with captain Adam Reynolds off due to concussion, and was expected to nail the extra two points without issue.
What happened next was one of the weirdest moments of the season, with the shot at goal from Walsh waved away by both touch judges.
“They’re gonna have a look. It was a shank, but from our angle it looked like it went over but the touchies didn’t like that,” Dan Ginnane said on Fox League.
“That’s just drama we didn’t need.”
The superstar fullback turned around and looked at referee Grant Atkins with pure disbelief, asking him to send it upstairs to the Bunker.
Atkins obliged, and video replays showed that while it was far from a clean strike by Walsh, the ball did make its way over the crossbar.
“It’s over. I can’t believe both touchies waved it away,” Greg Alexander said.
After the confusing moment was sorted, Brisbane’s comeback bid was short-lived as Greg Marzhew and Fletcher Sharpe both scored their second tries to seal the result, with the Knights walking out of Suncorp Stadium with a decisive victory.
