Terrell and Taylan May left Wests Tigers supporters in a panic on Friday after posting a cryptic social media video hinting that they were following Jarome Luai to the Papua New Guinea Chiefs.

As it turned out, the video was a prank that doubled as a bizarre prelude to an announcement that they were staying at the Tigers long-term, having signed contact extensions.

Days after losing superstar playmaker Luai to the Chiefs, the Tigers have secured the futures of the brothers until the end of the 2030 season.

The four-year extension ensures the duo will continue living out a childhood dream of playing rugby league together.

The massive boost comes with the Tigers sitting pretty in the top four, having already won five games in 2026 as coach Benji Marshall leads a promising resurgence.

However, the announcement was not your run of the mill club statement, with the players leveraging off their personal following to make a splash with the news.

'"Me and Tiny want to be transparent with you guys, and just announce an opportunity has come about to play with our older brother in PNG in 2028," Terrell said in the post.

"We're grateful for what the club has given us, especially me, they gave me a second chance. But like Benji [Marshall] says, 'family comes first', and that was the best decision for me and my brother and our family. Now we all get to play together. We're still here until 2028. Thank you," added Taylan.

Terrell and Taylan's older brother Tyrone is a former Panthers star, currently plying his trade with Hull KR in the UK Super League. It would not surprise to see the talented five-eighth link up with the Chiefs, although there is no indication that he is currently in talks with the NRL's newest club.

Minutes after Taylan and Terrell May had posted their video, the club dropped the official release confirming their extensions until 2030.

Weird contract announcement aside, the brothers are two of the Tigers' top players and are set to continue with Concord as their NRL home for years to come.

"Family is so important to us and it's something that drew me to the club in the first place. I can't speak highly enough of Benji and the staff for the support they give us to be ourselves on and off the field," Terrell said of the extension announcement.

"I'm really enjoying my footy this year and we're getting results thanks to the way we've trained over pre-season. The focus is just staying locked in and getting better every single day for the boys."

For Taylan, the 24-year-old had a rocky start to 2026 with an injury but returned to the line up in round seven and made an instant impact.

"I was grateful for the opportunity Benji and the club gave to me last year, giving me a chance to come back to the NRL and play with my brother has been a dream for us," he said.

"We both love it here and I love all the boys, we've got a great culture. We're playing our footy and enjoying the process of getting better every day."

Marshall was equally complimentary of the duo. Terrell has been instrumental in the Tigers' forward pack as they push towards the finals, averaging 161 run metres per game in 2026.

Meanwhile, Taylan has crossed for four tries in the outside backs, already notching up three try assists and six line breaks.

"Since Terrell's been at our club he's taken his game to the next level, and I truly believe his best is still ahead of him. I can't speak highly enough of what he has brought to our team and our culture," said Marshall.

"Taylan's taken massive steps in his journey and I love that he feels at home with us to be able to be himself. He adds a calmness and an 'X' factor to our side in both defence and attack and we value everything he brings.

"What's clear with both boys is they are 'all in' and committed to where we are heading as a club and are both integral parts of our team."

The Tigers will take on the Cronulla Sharks on Sunday afternoon at Ocean Protect Stadium.
