Several players facing stints on sidelines after Warriors cruise past Dragons in carnage-filled clash

The Warriors looked as if they barely had to get out of third gear as they cruised past the Dragons 30-12 at a soggy Kogarah on Saturday night.

But both sides look as if they could have paid a heavy injury toll, with at least two players from each side facing uncertainty ahead of next weekend.

For the Warriors, the most obvious out will be Eddie Ieremia-Toeava, who looked as if he was briefly knocked out midway through the first half.

He and teammate Wayde Egan were trying to bring down Dragons prop Toby Couchman when Ieremia-Toeava went down.

Exactly what happened wasn't immediately clear on replays, but his head at one point was squeezed between Couchman's thigh and Egan's hip.

Ieremia-Toeava stayed down for several minutes before he was helped to his feet and walked off the field.

Ironically, Ieremia-Toeava was on the field replacing Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, who had come off with a suspected knee injury.

Coach Andrew Webster said Tuivasa-Sheck was walking around the dressing room post-match.

While he was confident he had not suffered an ACL injury, he will have scans done upon the team's return to New Zealand.

Unsurprisingly, Ieremia-Toeava was assessed a category one concussion and will face the mandatory 11-day stand-down.

Life wasn't much better for the home side. Centre Hayden Buchanan could be on the sidelines for a bit after suffering a shoulder injury. Coach Dean Young said it "kept popping in and out".

Young went on to reveal Clint Gutherson had been carrying a knee niggle for several weeks, "and probably shouldn't have played last week". He was seen nursing it throughout the match, but Young said it was a fresh injury "to his good knee".

Skipper Damien Cook's ankle also got crushed under a tackle. He said it was sore and would be checked properly post-match, but was confident it was "nothing serious".

But there was some good news on the injury front. Young said Jaydn Su'A - who was ruled out of the Warriors clash on Friday after suffering a calf injury during the captain's run - could be back as early as next week after scans revealed the injury was "only minor".

The Dragons were first to get on the scoreboard when Setu Tu crossed in the sixth minute, but it wasn't long before the Warriors hit back through Alofiana Khan-Pereira.

The Warriors went ahead through Te Maire Martin in the 17th minute, but took until well after the half-hour mark before they crossed again when a bit of Dallin Watene-Zelezniak magic broke the hearts of the St George Illawarra faithful.

Martin was also put on report early in the first half for a late hit on Kyle Flanagan.

Having carried a 14-6 lead into the break, the same three each crossed for a second in the second half.

Valentine Holmes also crossed to give his side the faintest of hopes of a comeback, but it was not to be.

The win further cemented the Warriors in second on the ladder. They will take on the Panthers in a top-of-the-table clash at CommBank Stadium next weekend.
