'I'm not quite sure': The lingering Storm issue legendary coach Craig Bellamy can't solve

Craig Bellamy admits the Storm have been "steamrolled" in second halves this season, fresh off giving up a half-time lead against Canterbury.

The visitors led 18-6 on Friday night at Accor Stadium but were ultimately run down by a desperate Bulldogs outfit, who held on for a crucial 30-20 victory.

Melbourne are in the midst of one of their worst seasons ever and remain towards the bottom on the NRL ladder with four wins and eight losses.

Speaking post-game, Bellamy was asked what happened after the break against the Dogs and said he couldn't put his finger on the side's second-half woes.

"With all due respect, it's nothing new to be quite honest," he said.

"Our second halves have been really poor. I'm not quite sure why.

"To repeat what's been happening at the start of second halves this year, we're aware of it but we can't seem to fix it.

"It's really disappointing. We ain't getting run down, we're getting steamrolled.

"We've always prided ourselves on if we get a lead, we'll protect it and we'll protect it hard and with a bit of ferocity but we're just sort of laying down belly up."

It's been the most challenging year of Bellamy's coaching career, both due to the Storm's poor form and his own health concerns, which became public last month.

But the three-time premiership winner is adamant Melbourne's work away from the field hasn't been an issue throughout their disappointing stretch.

"Preparation has been pretty good to be quite honest," he said.

"It's a new thing for us. Usually we've been pretty strong in our second halves ... but we're not that at the moment."

Melbourne will take on the Sydney Roosters at home next weekend.
