Broncos veteran Ben Hunt will continue his career for at least one more year, re-signing with the club for the 2027 season.

Hunt finally reached the NRL mountaintop last year, tasting premiership success with Brisbane a decade removed from heartache in the famous 2015 decider.

The 36-year-old, who will turn 37 early next season, has inked a fresh one-year contract to remain at Red Hill despite calls from ex-teammate Corey Parker for him to hang up the boots.

“Broncos have always been home for me and I’m incredibly grateful for everything this club has given me over the years,” Hunt said on Monday night.

“I love being part of this group, I still feel like I’ve got plenty to offer and my body feels great.

“I really enjoy helping the younger players develop and navigate their own journeys in the NRL.”

Broncos recruitment manager Simon Scanlan said the utility brings value on and off the field, especially with some of the club’s younger players.

“Ben’s experience and leadership are invaluable to our squad,” he said.

“He leads with a calmness and professionalism that only comes from spending so many years at the highest level, and the younger players benefit from having him.

“His versatility and football IQ provide great value and depth to the squad, but just as importantly, he sets high standards every day and continues to have a huge impact on our culture.”

Hunt’s addition to the roster for next year will add further depth in the halves and hooker, but also creates more of a selection headache for coach Michael Maguire.

Jonah Pezet has signed a lucrative long-term deal to play halfback, Tom Duffy has just recommitted and Ezra Mam is around for a few more years in the halves.

In the hooker role, Cory Paix and Blake Mozer are both signed, while Billy Walters is off-contract as he nears a return from an ACL injury.
