Dylan Brown fallout continues as Knights young gun Will Pryce granted early release

The fallout from Dylan Brown's impending move to Newcastle has continued, with young gun Will Pryce granted an early release.

The 22-year-old joined the Knights last season as a highly-touted playmaking prospect out of the Super League, but only managed five appearances in the top grade.

Pryce has since fallen out of favour with Fletcher Sharpe and Jack Cogger the preferred halves early in the season, while Brown will join the club in 2026.

In a statement on Monday morning, the Knights confirmed the Englishman would return home and take up a long-term deal with a Super League team.

"Newcastle Knights have agreed to a request from Will Pryce, granting an immediate release on compassionate grounds, to allow him to return home to England for personal and professional reasons," the statement said.

"Pryce has secured a multi-year contract in the Super League and the Knights did not want to stand in the way of this opportunity to return home to his family.

"Newcastle Knights would like to thank Will for all his contributions over the past couple of seasons and both parties have agreed to ensuring all details remain private."

It's expected that Pryce will join Hull FC on an immediate contract.

Newcastle still have Cogger, Sharpe and Tyson Gamble signed as halves options for next year, while Jackson Hastings comes off-contract at the end of the 2025 campaign.
