Daly Cherry-Evans spills on injury scare as Manly sweats on Tom Trbojevic

A pair of controversial tries were not enough to save Manly from a rampaging Warriors attack as the visitors finished a horror 36-16 loss without injured stars Tom Trbojevic and Daly Cherry-Evans on Friday night.

But Cherry-Evans told The Sydney Morning Herald on Saturday that he was unlikely to miss any game time over what was only a corked calf which caused back tightness.

On the other hand, Trbojevic is being monitored after feeling ginger in his left hamstring and back, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

"I picked up a cork in the first five or 10 minutes," Cherry-Evans said.

"I was running a bit differently, and as a result the back and hips were being overloaded.

"That's as simple as it was. There was no impact injury.

"But I'll be very surprised if I'm not playing next week."

Manly coach Anthony Seibold gave an update on Trbojevic.

"Tommy has a little bit of tightness through his lower back and left hammy, but the medical staff aren't too concerned," Seibold said.

"He'll get a scan on Sunday to be certain with everything."

Manly will face Canberra at Brookvale Oval next Sunday afternoon.

In New Zealand on Friday night, Jason Saab was the first to claim four contentious points as he dived over to score Manly's second try of the evening in the 46th minute.

The high-flying winger went over in the right corner and appeared to drop the ball on grounding, but was saved by the Bunker due to "inconclusive" evidence.

Warriors hooker Wayde Egan hit back moments later to extend his team's lead to 12 before Cherry-Evans was left nervously awaiting a review of his own efforts.

In a remarkable diving effort from Reuben Garrick, the winger partnered up with the Manly skipper to narrow the margin.

The pair capitalised on a break down the edge by Saab, who appeared to put too much power into his chip across the field, but Garrick managed to get his hands on the ball and flick it back to Cherry-Evans before it went dead.

"Wow. That is a sensational play," Steve Roach said on Fox League.

"Look how hard those Manly players were chasing."

But a replay of the try appeared to show Garrick had stepped on the line.

"Oh, I don't know. I think his foot might be on the line," Roach continued.

"Is there a bit of chalk on that [boot]? I think he is on the line ... but how good of a try would that have been?"

A lengthy review by the Bunker ultimately awarded a try.

Poor discipline then killed Manly's attack in the second half as Jake Trbojevic was given his marching orders.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck joined a chorus of teammates on the list of try scorers before Manly was left to cover the holes left by an injured Cherry-Evans and Trbojevic.

Luke Metcalf wrapped the match up in style for the Warriors as he dived over the line with seconds remaining on the clock.
