Titans centre Brian Kelly binned in nightmare day as Bulldogs bounce back from Broncos horror show

Brian Kelly was left baffled when he was sent to the sin bin having been called offside twice at the same scrum.

After the Titans centre was called offside the first time, the Bulldogs opted to re-pack the scrum.

When Kelly was called offside a second time, referee Todd Smith was bound to send him straight to the bin.

Several Titans looked baffled by the call, before Smith explained the situation.

The timing of the call couldn't have been worse for the Titans, who had only just scored through Phillip Sami to get themselves back in the contest.

The game was an otherwise straightforward affair for the Bulldogs, who eventually ran out 38-18 winners.

The 10-minute spell only compounded what was already an awful afternoon for Kelly.

He missed each of his first three conversion attempts – and even slipped over attempting the second – before finally managing to get one through the sticks from dead in front.

"He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn today," Andrew Voss quipped in commentary for Fox Sports after the third miss.

If that wasn't enough for Des Hasler to tear his own hair out, Chris Randall was sent to the bin with barely 10 minutes left on the clock for a professional foul on Bronson Xerri.

Gold Coast had scored two tries back-to-back and were looking as if a comeback was brewing. It was snuffed out by the deficit.

Jacob Preston was sent to the bin with four minutes to play for a crusher tackle on Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, with the in-form Bulldogs forward facing a nervous wait.
