St George Illawarra are in danger of losing in-form hooker Jacob Liddle, one of the heroes of last weekend's stunning win over the Broncos.

Liddle turned the momentum of the match with an amazing 70-metre dash to the tryline, helping the Dragons to a 30-26 win.

Two weeks earlier, he came off the bench, charging over for two tries in a narrow 34-28 loss to the Tigers at Magic Round.

But therein lies the problem - Liddle is one of the best dummy-halves in the league but can't get a start ahead of vereran Damien Cook at the moment.

Rival clubs are showing interest in the 28-year-old former Australian Schoolboy, who has an option his way for next season.

"Jacob is happy at the Dragons but obviously would like to start games and have more match time," his manager Gavin Orr told Wide World of Sports.

"We will see how things play out."

Liddle was among the Dragons' best players in a disappointing 2024 campaign and was rewarded with a spot in the Prime Minister's XIII.

ROOSTERS FANS WITHOUT LUCK

A smattering of Roosters fans are so against Souths moving back into what they see as 'their' territory that they have started an online petition to ban the Bunnies from shifting to Allianz Stadium in 2026.

But I'm hearing it will come to nought, and it's all but a done deal that the Rabbitohs will finally be coming back closer to home next season.

Fans were up in arms when the Rabbitohs packed up and headed out west to Homebush in 2005 - but the stadium presented the club with a deal that was too good to refuse.

Much has changed since then and many fans will be delighted at the prospect of returning closer to the club's historic home in the Redfern area.

ONE STAR'S ORIGIN HOPES NIXED

Which player who was well and truly in line for Origin selection missed the boat when state officials did their due diligence?

They contacted the player's club from last season and asked if the man concerned would be a good fit for the team.

The club came back with a firm "no way" because of his attitude and off-field antics.

The coaching staff took the hint and left him out - even though on form, he well and truly deserved selection.

FORGOTTEN MAN FINDS FORM

Remember former Warriors, Titans and Dragons halfback Paul Turner?

The Kiwi-born halfback looked like he could have been a real star when he debuted for the Warriors back in 2020 as a teenager but injuries and lack of opportunity resulted in his career stalling.

He had a successful stint with Featherstone Rovers in England last year before injury struck again, resulting in surgery on his forearm.

Now 24 years of age, Turner is in great form in the Queensland Cup for Tweed Seagulls and has attracted the attention of several NRL clubs.

A smart playmaker, he is on track for a train and trial deal with at least two interested clubs in 2026.
