Toafofoa Sipley's time in the NRL appears over after he was whacked with a three-match ban for a dangerous tackle on David Klemmer.

The Sea Eagles were leading 22-6 in the early minutes of the second half when they were left to battle down a player as Sipley was sent to the sin bin.

The 30-year-old was the third man into the tackle and dived at the knees of Klemmer, which left the Dragons prop wincing.

"He is in some discomfort there and Sipley realised that straight away," caller Warren Smith said on Fox League.

Referee Adam Gee then told Sipley and Manly captain Daly Cherry-Evans it was moderate force and high risk, thus putting him in the bin.

Sipley's actions were not overlooked by the match review committee either.

If the front-rower is to challenge the ban and is found guilty by the judiciary, he could face up to a month of the sidelines.

However, it is unlikely that such process will take place, given Sipley is departing Manly in the coming weeks to join the Warrington Wolves in the English Super League.

The incident was the second time Sipley had found himself in hot water for a similar type of tackle this season - also against the Dragons - which injured Mat Feagai and put the young winger on the sidelines for an extended period.

Manly are currently sat just outside the top eight and are still a mathematical chance of progressing into the finals, but they will need to record a big win over the Warriors.

Therefore, if they do not make the finals, Sipley's ban will carry on until he returns to the league - if he is to do so.

Manly managed to survive a shaky period from a sin bin and claim a 40-24 win against the Dragons.

But still, the time Sipley returned, the Dragons were back in touch from a Jacob Liddle try. 30 seconds later, Christian Tuipulotu scored to make it 22-18.

Sipley's return appeared to put the Sea Eagles back in form, with Corey Waddell and Tommy Talau scoring.

In the final minutes, both sides went try for try as Emre Guler scored for the Dragons and Caleb Navale finished Manly's win off with a four-pointer.

The win pushes Manly into ninth, going ahead of the Dolphins. However, the Roosters are two points ahead with a superior differential of 82 points.

Manly will play the Warriors next week while the Roosters are up against the Rabbitohs.
