'You want that to be the truth': Gus recoils at suggestion he 'misled' public over Lachlan Galvin courtship
Canterbury football boss Phil Gould has hit back at accusations he misled people about his intentions to sign Lachlan Galvin.
The Bulldogs chief went toe-to-toe with Nine and Sydney Morning Herald journalist Michael Chammas in an at-times tense exchange on the 100% Footy desk on Monday night.
Teen playmaker Galvin is expected to join the Dogs as early as this week after the Wests Tigers agreed to release him from his contract early, if they can secure a transfer fee.

The development comes only a couple of weeks after Gould declared his club had no intention to chase Galvin's signature.
Gould clarified on numerous Nine programs over Sunday and Monday that "the goal posts shifted last week", allowing Galvin to be signed immediately which sparked Canterbury's interest.

On 100% Footy, Gould declared "I have never met Lachlan Galvin" and denied deliberately lying about the situation previously.
"How did I mislead you on Lachlan Galvin?" Gould asked Chammas after being questioned about his past comments.
"I never said I wasn't interested. What I said was we're on a different course, he's not in our plans because he wasn't off contract until 2027.

"You're summising that because it's happened. You want that to be the truth. You want that to be the truth, that's the scenario you want to create. I didn't see it happening that way at all, not at all.
"You go back and review everything I've said about Lachlan Galvin and what transpired and everything I said was 100 per cent the truth at the time.
"The goal posts moved when his manager said he could be available now which I took to the coaches and the coaches went and met with him, not me. I met with the manager on Thursday after the coach came back and said this could be an option.
"It wasn't my decision, (it was the) coach's decision.
"How did I publicly court Lachlan Galvin? I've praised a lot of players, I've praised (Melbourne legend) Cameron Smith. Did I ever offer you a contract Cameron? Never."
Gould finished the segment by firing back at Chammas, "I didn't mislead anyone... Mind your words, son."
Chammas insisted "I'm not questioning your credibility".
