Panthers prop Moses Leota escapes charge for crusher tackle on former teammate

Penrith is breathing easier after Moses Leota escaped sanction for a crusher tackle following Sunday's 18-14 win over Wests Tigers.
The powerful front-rower was put on report midway through the first half for a tackle on former teammate Sunia Turuva.
His front-row partner, Kangaroos representative Lindsay Smith, tackled Turuva around the legs as Leota came in over the top.

The NRL has been cracking down on crusher tackles recently, with Canterbury's Jacob Preston receiving a four-game ban and Penrith's Liam Henry copping a two-match suspension.
Preston was offered a three-game ban but had his suspension extended to four matches when he challenged the charge at the judiciary and lost.

On Monday, Leota's name was missing from the charge sheet released by the NRL's match review committee.
Raider Zac Hosking was the only player cited from Sunday's action, for a crusher tackle on South Sydney's Keaon Koloamatangi. He was fined $1000.
The Panthers won consecutive games for the first time this season to rise to 13th on the ladder.
