Panthers hooker Mitch Kenny hit with suspension after nasty hip-drop tackle on Nat Butcher

Roosters coach Trent Robinson has revealed his frustration with Saturday's officiating after Nat Butcher suffered a knee injury during his side's loss to the Panthers from a tackle that was left unpunished by the on-field referees.

Butcher was taken down in a three-man tackle during the fourth minute of the match with Liam Martin and Nathan Cleary up high while Mitch Kenny went low.

Kenny ended up behind the body of Butcher as he took him down with the Roosters prop struggling to get up to play the ball.

Kenny was neither sin-binned nor placed on report, and the Panthers didn't even concede a penalty.

However, on Sunday morning, the Penrith hooker was slapped with a grade two dangerous contact charge for the hip-drop tackle.

Kenny will miss two games with an early guilty plea and risks a further week on the sidelines should he opt to fight the charge at the judiciary and lose.

After the incident, Butcher tried to stay on for the next eight minutes but eventually succumbed to his problem with Spencer Leniu heading onto the field.

Speaking post-match, coach Robinson wasn't impressed.

"He's got an MCL injury. It's pretty disappointing," he said.

"Nothing was mentioned (in the game). He gets a tackle, gets an MCL injury and is done for the night."

Asked for his thoughts on the tackle, the Roosters coach was blunt.

"There's no confusion there, not from my point of view," he said.

"Not to even have a discussion and a guy to do an MCL and finish for the game, it's pretty clear."
