Cowboys and Panthers trainers banned over 'cheeky' golden point ball-wetting act
The two trainers at the centre of the ball-wetting scandal that stemmed from the thrilling draw between the Cowboys and Panthers have copped whacks from the NRL.
In the wake of the 30-all draw, footage did the rounds on Sunday morning of Penrith trainer Shane Elford spraying the Steeden with a water bottle.
The following day, more footage surfaced of Cowboys trainer Mitch Dunn doing exactly the same thing in the second period of golden point.

Dunn was sprung by on-field referee Todd Smith, who was audibly frustrated by the ploy.
Storm legend Billy Slater described the actions as a "cheeky thing to do".
While there are no restrictions on altering the condition of the ball, the NRL on Friday afternoon announced the clubs would be fined $10,000 and issued a breach notice.
The trainers have both been banned for two games, the second of which is suspended.

"During the match, trainers from both clubs were observed squirting liquid onto the football prior to kick restarts of play, in contravention of the NRL rules," a statement read.
"The NRL has also reminded all clubs about the limitations of the roles of trainers on match days.
"Any action, other than those permitted under the NRL rules, may be considered a breach liable to sanctions."
Both clubs have been given five days to respond to the notices.
The Cowboys will play the Sea Eagles on Saturday afternoon, while the Panthers have the bye.
