Jahrome Hughes played the second half of the Storm's 30-24 win over the Panthers on Thursday night with a broken hand.

The Storm on Friday put out a statement confirming the star halfback would need surgery on the injury but added that he was only expected to miss two matches.

The statement revealed the Kiwi No.7 was injured in the first half, likely in the heavy collision with Nathan Cleary in the 8th minute, before playing on for the remainder of the contest.

"Scans have today confirmed Jahrome Hughes suffered a broken hand ... the halfback sustained the injury during the first half but played on," the statement read.

"He will have surgery (Saturday) and is expected to miss two matches."

While Hughes was able to play on against the Panthers, Cleary was pulled from the field after getting knocked out. He will miss the Panthers' round four clash against the Rabbitohs.

It was a carnage-filled night at AAMI Park. Hughes is one of several players under an injury cloud ahead of their clash against the Dragons next Saturday.

Nick Meaney will be missing for at least a month after scans confirmed he suffered a facial fracture in a friendly-fire head clash with Nelson Asofa-Solomona.

Asofa-Solomona failed a post-match HIA and will enter concussion protocols. His availability for the Dragons clash is not known.

But it wasn't all doom and gloom – Grant Anderson has been cleared of any serious injury. He went down in the 54th minute with a suspected knee injury after slipping.

Will Warbrick's timeline for return from a concussion remains unknown.
