Lachlan Galvin was given his marching orders in the first half of Sunday's clash against South Sydney - but there was confusion over why there was no penalty try awarded.

The young Wests Tigers playmaker was sin binned for a professional foul after he was ruled offside and then stopped Isaiah Tass from scoring a try.

Galvin and Sunia Turuva were both penalised, but it was the teenager who was sat down by official Wyatt Raymond, who explained he was the 'primary defender'.

However, given the fact Tass was just centimetres away from planting the ball down, Michael Ennis questioned whether it should have instead been a penalty try.

"He's blatantly offside, maybe it is a penalty try then," he said on Fox League.

"He scores every day of the week Isaiah Tass, if they're not there.

"They are blatantly offside."

Lead caller Warren Smith also pointed issues in the way officials award penalty tries.

"We see bouncing balls in the in-goal where players don't even go close to the ball and are awarded as penalty tries," he said.

"In this situation, he is just centimetres from the tryline."

Galvin's absence saw the Rabbitohs extend their lead to 12-0 in the first half as Euan Aitken joined hooker Siliva Havili on the score sheet.

However, right before the half-time break, Api Koroisau streaked away to score a long-range try to put the hosts back into the contest at Campbelltown Stadium.

As the rain began to tumble down in the second half, Koroisau put the Tigers in a winning position with his second try of the night in the 68th minute.

Tallis Duncan was then binned for the Bunnies, which forced his side to defend with 12 men - but they managed to hold on for the tricky period, before Jai Arrow put the icing on the cake as the cardinal and myrtle secured a 22-12 win.
