LA Rams player reveals which two Super Bowl stars could make a successful switch to rugby league

Several NRL players have attempted to make the switch to the NFL but LA Rams star Puka Nacua believes only a select few of his peers could successfully do the opposite.

The Rams wide receiver is no stranger to heavy hits on the field but admits the physicality of the NRL he saw last season has stayed with him - and he has no interest in putting himself in the firing line.

But if any player were to make the switch successfully to the visiting rugby code, Nacua believes there are two Super Bowl champions who would make good candidates.

The two names nominated by Nacua as the likely contenders to make a successful transition were Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Barkley was a vital player in the Eagles' run to claim the Super Bowl LIX title this season, having made 13 touchdowns in the regular season and an additional five during the playoffs.

His work on the field saw him record the second highest rushing yards in a season, including playoffs, in the competition's history, falling just shy of Terrell Davis, who set the record in 1998.

Likewise, Hill's impressive pace across the field has earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl eight times. He was also named as the NFL's 2010s All-Decade Team as a punt returner.

"I like to think that I am physical but then I see these guys and I'm like... I don't know if I want to run right through this guy," Nacua said as he was presented a Warriors jersey by former Kangaroos star Aaron Woods.

"I think guys like Tyreek Hill or a Saquon would be great out there.

"They have the physicality... When I look at rugby (league) players, the way they are built from the lower half down - they are built like linebackers.

"You have got to find someone who plays like a linebacker."

Nacua is expected to be among the many US sports stars in attendance at Allegiant Stadium for the 2025 NRL season opener.

All the action is set to kick off with a Super League clash between Wigan and Warrington before the Canberra Raiders face the New Zealand Warriors.
