Mitchell Moses turns around Eels' season with masterclass as three players sin-binned

A Mitchell Moses masterclass, controversial hip-drop tackle and three sin-bins.

The final clash of round seven had it all, and the Eels now have two wins for 2025 after a chaotic victory over the Tigers.

Moses' return sparked the Eels into action at CommBank Stadium, as tensions threatened to boil over on several occasions.

The biggest flashpoint came when Sunia Turuva sparked a melee in the 53rd minute.

Turuva was tackled out by multiple Eels defenders before getting up and throwing Ryley Smith into the ground. Players from both sides then came in before Turuva was binned along with Eels forward Luca Moretti.

After the ref binned Turuva, Sean Russell mocked him as he approached the sideline.

Once off the field, Turuva then tried to continue the back-and-forth with Russell.

"They've lost their heads, the Tigers," Greg Alexander said on Fox League.

Earlier at half-time, the score was locked at 10-10 with Moses on fire.

Parramatta's first try came from a cut-out pass by the halfback to Josh Addo-Carr, who scored in the corner. This was off the back of a 40/20 from Moses earlier.

The Tigers hit back with tries to Terrell May and Jahream Bula.

But Moses was back in the action when he laid on a pass to Isaiah Iongi, who burnt the Tigers defence.

Immediately after the break, controversy struck.

Kelma Tuilagi had momentum behind a run but Samuela Fainu brought him down from behind, albeit not landing on his legs. It was placed on report, much to the shock of Fainu and the commentators.

"Who's in the box saying that was a hip-drop tackle?" Alexander said.

"Nothing's landed on his leg. That's outrageous," caller Andrew Voss added.

Miraculously, after staying down and having his ankle strapped, Tuilagi pushed through a hole moments later to score.

"That makes a farce of the report," Voss said.

The Eels scored two more tries through Sam Tuivaiti and Iongi to push the lead to 26-10.

Then the sin-bins came, but the Bunker wasn't done there.

Iongi was put in the bin in the 58th minute after it was ruled he'd committed a professional foul by impeding Starford To'a, who was running through from a chip and chase. The argument made was that he was going for the ball.

"Does anyone agree with that sin-bin?" Alexander asked on Fox League.

Both Cooper Cronk and Alexander said "no".

The one-man advantage meant Alex Seyfarth and Luke Laulilii would score for the Tigers and bring the score to 26-22.

However, Moses inspired the Eels again, producing a kick on the first tackle for Bailey Simonsson who picked up the ball and scored with five minutes left.

Another try to Addo-Carr came at full-time to put the 36-22 result beyond doubt.
